[News and Events] Spring Monterey Bay GIS Events

There are two fantastic upcoming opportunities to learn about coastal and marine GIS technologies and techniques. Network members are encouraged to register and participate!

COAST Marine Geospatial Workshop at CSUMB March 19-21, 2015

The COAST Geospatial Network will host a workshop on geospatial techniques and data analysis in the marine environment at CSU Monterey Bay March 19-21, 2015. The workshop will focus on marine geospatial data collection and statistical analysis and application to biological and ecological research questions. Training in the use of advanced geospatial technologies (e.g. LIDAR, survey grade GPS) that can be used in the management and conservation of California’s coastal resources will be provided.

The workshop will be led by Dr. Corey Garza and Mr. Dan Orr of CSU Monterey Bay and Dr. Shannon Bros-Seaman of SJSU. The workshop will follow a field-to-finish format where participants will spend one day in the field learning geospatial data acquisition techniques followed by one day in the lab processing and analyzing the data. Participants in the workshop must have entry-level GIS experience. Those without GIS experience will be provided with access to an online ESRI training module that must be completed prior to the start of the workshop.

You can register and learn more here.
