Todd Hallenbeck wrote a new post, Data sharing training and resources now available! 9 years, 6 months ago
The West Coast Ocean Data Network helps to increase data sharing capacity throughout the region by sharing best practices and technologies for publishing ocean and coastal data. At the recent West Coast Ocean Data Network meeting two of our Network members led training sessions focused on best practices for publishing discovery metadata and web services. The trainings were videotaped so that they could be shared broadly among our network members. Please explore the sections and let us know how you are employing these practices at your organization, agency, or tribe.
You can access training materials here.
We plan to expand on these trainings over the next year to address new technologies and If you have a suggestion for additional topics, please provide comments below.

Todd Hallenbeck wrote a new post, [Working Groups] Data Call – Sept. 25, 2014 9 years, 7 months ago
The Data Working Group met to discuss and provide feedback on the organization and functionality of the existing layers in the data viewer prototype. There were a number of issues that came up related to layer cartography, non-functioning layers (whoops!), and organization in the table of contents. The development team working with Point97 will be addressing some of these issues over the next couple weeks as we prepare for our launch in November. The Data Working Group also discussed providing input on how a new bit of funding from BOEM will be used to develop critical regional datasets to inform West Coast issues like marine planning. Further discussion of these priorities will be a central focus of the Network meeting occurring Nov. 3-4, 2014 in Costa Mesa, CA. If you would like to join the conversation please register today!
