The WCODP ACT met today and were joined by the West Coast Regional Planning Body (RPB) coordinator John Hansen who provided an update on West Coast RPB activities and progress. We are pleased to announce that there are a number of new California Seafloor and Coastal Mapping Program layers and map services now available through the WCODP and USGS Data Portal. This work was undertaken by 25 essential co-authors. Each release includes the catalog of GIS layers, web services, 10 thematic map sheets in pdf format, and an explanatory pamphlet. There are now 19 of these map and data sets available, covering approximately 24% of California’s mainland State Waters. Three more map and data publications should be released

The IT Working Group met to discuss recent portal enhancements, including new features to filter the data catalog by link type, more intuitive filtering by category, and better link type recognition. Additionally, the group discussed re-prioritizing remaining bugs and enhancements through our Github page. Finally, the group discussed and made plans for our server migration. There are tools for creating both for ISO 19115 and FGDC CSDGM metadata standard documents. The WCODP ACT met yesterday and was able to provide feedback and make decisions related to our regional data development project (including our kelp, fishery closures, and littoral cells layers), discuss two funding opportunities, develop and refine messaging for the West Coast Ocean Partnership Strategic Planning Meeting, and solicit a new working group leader. The Data Working Group had their monthly call yesterday to discuss current data development activities of the Network. We got some great feedback on the closed and restricted fishery areas, kelp, and littoral cell data being developed by SoundGIS that will greatly increase the value of these data products.
