Jennifer Patterson is the Information Manager for the Central and Northern California Ocean Observing System (CeNCOOS).  She serves on the WCODP Action Coordination Team and Data Working Group contributing insights into the relevancy and integration of IOOS oceanographic data.  Time varying ocean data sets such as pH, oxygen, temperature, and currents have been identified as priority data sets for the WCGA WCODP. [Working Groups] Data Call – July 23, 2014

The Data Working Group met to discuss and finalize a number of important resources the Network will use in upcoming data development projects. One was a finalization of the data prioritization list and the other was a best practice recommendation for projections and coordinate systems. You can read the full call notes here. The Outreach Working Group had a short call this week to finalize some communication materials related to our upcoming Network Meeting, the Marine Debris Use Case, and our Network Technical Assistance Survey on the streets now. You can read call notes here. The Data Working Group met this week to revise and refine upcoming West Coast ocean data priorities and develop some best practices for map projections. You can read the call notes here. The next data working group call will be July 24th 2pm.  The West Coast Ocean Data Portal (portal.westcoastoceans.org) is seeking input on data priorities related to West Coast ocean health issues like sea level rise, marine debris, ocean acidification, and marine planning. The West Coast Governors Alliance (WCGA, http://westcoastoceans.org) is funding a contractor through a NOAA Regional Ocean Partnership grant to assist WCGA partners to develop, enhance, and connect their data resources (i.e. data, metadata, services) to the West Coast Ocean Data Portal (WCODP, http://portal.westcoastoceans.org) as well as other state and national systems. [Working Groups] Outreach Call – May 28, 2014

The Outreach Working Group met in May to discuss upcoming communication materials and events. In particular, the group provided feedback on a draft one pager designed to inform stakeholders about the Marine Debris Use Case and provide copy for the Marine Debris page in the Portal. The group also finalized the Network Technical Assistance Survey, which will be going out to the Network later this week.
